About
Biography
Dr. Sandra Adams is a nationally recognized CTE director, author, and advocate for high quality CTE-literacy based instruction. Sandra’s passion for elevating both teachers and students in career and technical education crosses all threads of her work. Sandra currently serves as the ACTE VP for the Administration Division, where she uses her voice to bring the best leaders in CTE to the forefront, to support instructional growth and workforce development across the nation.
As an area CTE director and principal, Dr. Adams has championed bridging the secondary-postsecondary programming to elevate students earning college completions and associate degrees during high school. Her regional career center has experienced a 10% annual increase in college completion across 10 CTE pathways for the past 5 years consecutively.
Sandra’s passion for active industry-based language learning and high-quality instruction led her to author four books on CTE instruction and meaningful collaboration, including, But I’m Not a Reading Teacher, Fluent Work, PLC in CTE, and Next Level CTE Instruction.
Sandra has worked with numerous school districts across the US and is a regular contributor for ACTE’s Techniques magazine and CTE podcasts. She has provided multiple presentations for state, regional and national CTE conferences. She shares her research on how to embed WBL into any CTE Program with her keynote address, Possibility Thinking and frequently consults on leadership in career and technical education.
Sandra is a founding member of the CTE Collective, a growing community of leaders working to amplify the voice and impact of career and technical education. Alongside fellow founding members Mark Covelle, Peter Howstrawser, Alli Dahl, Chris Nesmith, Jason Van Nus, TJ Vari, and Kristy Volesky, she is helping shape a movement designed to incubate bold ideas, connect practitioners, and grow the field of CTE from within.
